「即今鏡門:Mirror Portal of Emergence」
世界とは物質と映像の間，鏡の界面に浮かぶ滑らかな夢であろう．
私たちが認識する現実とは，境界の彼方に潜勢的に存在する無限の可能性が，即今という瞬間の反射を通じて顕れる，儚く流動的な現象に過ぎない．それは計算機自然におけるヌル，すなわち〈何もないが故にあらゆるものが生じうる〉意味や記号以前の位相から生起し，再びそこへと還ってゆく．
本作『即今鏡門』は，こうした潜勢的可能性が顕現する〈即今〉を体験するための可変的境界装置である．その構造は計算機自然におけるヌルと即今の哲学に基づき，変形可能なミラー膜によって構成される湾曲・変容する鏡の門となっている．そこでは，物質と映像の境界が融解し，鑑賞者の身体や周囲の風景，主体と客体，過去と未来が入り混じり，流動的に変化してゆく．
かつて明治の時代，日本が「アート」を「芸術」として，「ラブ」を「愛」として，「フォトグラフィー」を「写真」として翻訳したとき，まさに映像と物質のあいだに新しい境界が生まれ，人々の心象風景そのものが変化した．それは表参道という土地が，農地から都市空白を経て，国家的・精神的な参道へと再創造されたプロセスに他ならない．
本作が目指すのは，このような境界の未分化な融合を，空間的・哲学的に再演することである．鑑賞者は『即今鏡門』の前に立ち，鏡の界面に映し出される自己の姿と溶け合いながら，自身が環境や現象の一部として概念が立ち現れるプロセスそのものとなり，「初めて出会う瞬間」を繰り返し経験するだろう．
それは劇的な境界の開示ではなくむしろ鏡の界面に生じる微かな揺らぎによって開かれる，滑らかで緩やかな夢の顕現なのである．
屋内LED作品：
「リキッドユニバース:記号宇宙のテトラレンマ的形態生成」
人がオブジェクトとして認識するのは記号宇宙である．像と流の境界に，記号が刹那に生じ，刹那に消える．鮮鋭な立ち上がりもあれば，焦点外のボケや視差のずれとしてしか現れない微かな兆しもある．
その生成と消失は，テトラレンマ(有・無・亦有亦無・非有非無)を文法とし，場の相を横断して続く．
空間は二層で動作する．即今鏡門の鏡膜の反射は，非シンボル(記号なき生命)の層を起動する．そこでは振動，風，歩く人々の呼吸と歩調が，記録されることなく揺らぎとしてだけ返される．鏡は自然のディスプレイとして，像を保持せず，前言語の生命を露わにする．
対して室内のリキッドユニバース，AIによって描かれるテトラレンマ宇宙は，シンボル(記号ある生命)の層である．LEDの光場にシンボルの破片が動的に生成され，重なり，ほどける．有では記号が立ち上がり，無では痕跡だけが残り，亦有亦無では二重写しのパリンプセストとなり，非有非無では立ち上がり自体が宙吊りになる．ときに四句そのものを捨てる瞬間があり，条件だけが残る．それがLove at First， 一瞥することで意識が相転移する現象の映像インスタレーションとしての解釈だ．
互いに対になる本作は，記号なき生命と記号を中心とした生命の差異と連続を，計算機自然における反射鏡と自発光という二相で物理的に表現するインスタレーションである．非シンボルの層では，生はただ在ることの運動として現れ，象りは生じない．シンボルの層では，記号が生成—変容—消散し，そこへ観者が意味を付与していく．意味は与件ではない，体験者の一瞥が境界条件を変え，記号の重心を選び，場の相を更新する．
記号は身体性とともに生まれ，余白で息をし，忘却で還る．鏡は非シンボルを，光はシンボルを，そして両者のあいだをこの場に同時に走らせる．それが，記号宇宙のテトラレンマ的形態生成である．
“Mirror Portal of Emergence”
The world is a smooth dream that floats on the interface of a mirror, between matter and image.
What we call reality is a fleeting, fluid phenomenon in which the infinite possibilities latent beyond the boundary appear through the reflection of the present instant. It rises from the “null” of digital / computational nature—a pre‐semantic field where, precisely because there is nothing, anything can come to be—and returns there again.
This work, “Mirror Portal of Emergence”, is a variable boundary device for experiencing that instant of manifestation. Grounded in the philosophy of “null” and the immediacy of the now, it forms a bending, transforming mirror portal composed of a deformable mirror membrane. Here, the boundary between matter and image dissolves; the viewer’s body and the surrounding scenery, subject and object, past and future commingle and shift fluidly.
In the Meiji era, when Japan translated “art” as “芸術 geijutsu”, “love” as “愛ai”, and “photography” as “写真 shashin”, a new boundary between image and thing was born, and people’s inner landscapes were transformed. The same process reinvented the place now called Omotesandō—from farmland, through an urban void, into a national and spiritual approach.
This work seeks to re‐stage, spatially and philosophically, that undifferentiated fusion of
boundaries. Standing before “Mirror Portal of Emergence”, the viewer merges with the figure reflected on the interface, becoming the very process by which concepts arise as part of environment and phenomenon, and repeatedly encounters “a first time.”
It is not a dramatic disclosure of a border, but the appearance of a smooth, gentle dream opened by the faint tremor that arises on the mirror’s surface.
“Liquid Universe: Tetralemmatic Morphogenesis of the Semiotic Cosmos”
What humans perceive as objects is, in fact, a semiotic cosmos. On the boundary between image and flow, signs arise in an instant and vanish in an instant. Some emerge with sharp clarity; others appear only as faint indications—blurred beyond focus or displaced by parallax. Their generation and disappearance follow the grammar of the tetralemma (existence, non-existence, both, neither), traversing the phases of a field without end.
The spatial structure operates on two strata. The reflection of the Mirror Portal of Emergence’s mirror membrane activates the stratum of the non-symbolic—life without signs. Here, vibrations, wind, the breathing and footsteps of passing people are returned only as fluctuations, never recorded. The mirror functions as a display of nature, withholding images and revealing pre-linguistic life itself.
In contrast, the indoor Liquid Universe, an AI-rendered tetralemmatic cosmos, belongs to the symbolic stratum—life with signs. Within an LED light-field, fragments of symbols are dynamically generated, layered, and unraveled. In existence, symbols arise; in non-existence, only traces remain; in both, they become palimpsests in double exposure; in neither, the very act of arising is suspended. At times, even the fourfold logic is discarded, leaving only conditions behind. This is Love at First: an interpretation of the phenomenon in which a single glance triggers a phase transition in consciousness, embodied as a video installation.
As paired works, these installations present the difference and continuity between life without symbols and life centered on them, embodied physically in computational nature’s dual phases of reflection and self-luminosity. In the non-symbolic stratum, life appears as the pure motion of being, without forming into figure. In the symbolic stratum, signs are generated, transformed, and dissipated, and it is the viewer who assigns meaning to them. Meaning is not a given; the viewer’s glance shifts the boundary conditions, selects the center of gravity of the sign, and updates the phase of the field.
Signs are born with corporeality, breathe in the margins, and return through forgetting. The mirror carries the non-symbolic; the light carries the symbolic; and between them, both run through the space at once. This is the tetralemmatic morphogenesis of the semiotic cosmos.
