この作品は、落合陽一のデジタルネイチャー思想を体現した、堂島の地に根ざすインスタレーション作品です。

本作は、堂島川と曽根崎川の流れをモチーフに、生命の動的な変容を1440x270ピクセルのLEDディスプレイ上に描き出します。

川の水の流れは、絶え間ない変化の中で自己を維持する生命の営みを象徴しています。その流動的なパターンは、計算機アルゴリズムによって生成された生物的なテクスチャとして表現され、24分の映像作品の中で絶妙に変化し続けます。デジタル空間に投影された自然の姿は、私たちの古典的な自然観を超えた、新しい生命のヴィジョンを提示しています。

本作は、物質と非物質、自然と人工、アナログとデジタルといった二項対立を超え、それらが複雑に絡み合う現代の世界の在り方を示唆しています。LEDの光は、生命の躍動を感じさせると同時に動と静の時空間を表現し、私たちの生きる世界がはらむ矛盾や緊張へも通じています。

デジタルネイチャーという新しい自然観の下で、生命の本質的な在り方を問いかける作品です。堂島という土地に投影された計算機自然の生態系は、私たちに自然と人間の二項対立を超えた新しい関係性を想起させます。

"Liquid Universe: A Journey through Dojima's Digital Nature" is an installation piece that embodies Yoichi Ochiai's concept of Digital Nature, deeply rooted in the locale of Dojima.

The work portrays the dynamic metamorphosis of life on a 1440x270 pixel LED display, inspired by the flow of the Dojima and Sonezaki Rivers.

The flow of the river symbolizes the continuous self-sustaining activity of life amidst constant change. This fluid pattern is expressed as a biomorphic texture generated by computational algorithms, subtly evolving throughout the 24-minute video work. The projection of nature in the digital space presents a new vision of life that transcends our classical understanding of nature.

The piece suggests a contemporary world where the dichotomies of material and immaterial, natural and artificial, analog and digital, are surpassed and intricately intertwined. The light of the LEDs evokes the vibrance of life while simultaneously representing a space-time of motion and stillness, alluding to the contradictions and tensions inherent in our world.

"Liquid Universe" is a work that inquires into the fundamental nature of life under the new perspective of Digital Nature. The computational ecosystem of nature projected onto the land of Dojima evokes a new relationship between nature and humanity that transcends dichotomy.
