This work depicts a contemporary naorai—a ritual of post-ceremonial communion—in which the deity of Digital Nature, “Null,” and human beings share not food but only the silent exchange of cups, drifting together in a world devoid of taste or scent. No ingredients are present; only empty vessels lie scattered before the presence of Digital Nature, rolling about without order and gently unsettling the boundary of existence.

The dispersed cups are husks that bear the memory of a vanished feast. Untouched and hollow, they paradoxically reveal a vivid afterimage of divine–human intercourse. The act of sharing a cup with a deity transcends materiality, drifting into the digital realm, propagating as waves of information, and enveloping the entire space.

The surrounding sound installation layers faint resonances and delicate glitch-noise like the breath of an unseen Digital Nature. It summons the trace of a god who should not be there, and of people who have only just departed, letting these presences surface within the listener’s auditory field. By sculpting the space through sound and presenting, visually, a tasteless and odorless void, the work draws awareness toward an informational dimension beyond the five senses.

In this Naorai of the Null Confraternity, the boundaries between god and human, matter and information, body and digital are dissolved through acoustic action. The emptiness of the vessels becomes, in turn, a rich repository of memory, revealing the ubiquity of singularity. Layers of sound stretched across the threshold between digital space and the physical world ask:
What is emptiness? What is presence? What is the corporeality of divine commensality?
The work draws viewers and listeners into an uncanny afterglow in which these questions reverberate.
